At Blue Frog School of Music in Oak Hill, Austin, our guitar lessons are designed to help students of all ages and experience levels build confidence, have fun, and grow musically. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your skills to the next level, our experienced instructors are here to support your journey.

We welcome students ages 6 and up, and offer instruction on both acoustic and electric guitar, tailored to each student’s interests and goals.

What You’ll Learn

Students will develop both technical skills and musicality, with an emphasis on:

  • Chords, strumming, and fingerpicking techniques
  • Reading tabs and notation
  • Rhythm and lead playing
  • Improvisation and soloing
  • Music theory for guitar made fun and practical

  • Kids (ages 6+) – Our instructors create a patient, encouraging environment that’s perfect for young learners

  • Music School Prep (optional): repertoire selection, practical theory & ear training, sight-reading benchmarks, mock auditions, and portfolio guidance for audition-bound high-school players.
  • Adults – Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to guitar, we’ll help you meet your goals with flexible, personalized lessons.

Learn Acoustic or Electric Guitar

From learning your first chords to playing full songs, our teachers guide students step-by-step through the fundamentals while making space for creativity and self-expression. We focus on technique, musicality, and personal enjoyment, blending structured learning with your favorite music styles.

Optional Student Performances

Students at Blue Frog School of Music are invited to participate in our semiannual recitals, where they can showcase their progress in a low-pressure, supportive setting. Performing is encouraged but never required.

Practice, Perform, and Shine

 

Regular attendance and practice are essential for musical growth. We encourage students to commit to consistent lessons and participate in our biannual recitals. These performances offer a valuable opportunity to showcase progress, boost confidence, and share music in a supportive, low-pressure setting. Participation is tailored to each student’s comfort level and stage of development, ensuring everyone can shine.
