Make up lesson policy
We understand that conflicts and illnesses sometimes arise. Our goal is to accommodate make-up lessons, when possible, while respecting the time and schedules of all students and teachers. Make-up lessons may be held in person or via Zoom, depending on availability and preference
planned absences
If you know you’ll need to miss a lesson, please notify your teacher at least one week in advance via email or text. With proper notice, each student is eligible for one make-up lesson per semester. If your teacher has availability, they will do their best to schedule a make-up lesson within 2 weeks. If no suitable time can be found, a credit will be applied to your Opus account.
Illness
If a student is sick, we ask that they stay home. Please notify your teacher by 9:00 AM on the day of the lesson so it can count toward your one allowed make-up per semester. If your teacher has availability, a make-up lesson will be scheduled within the next 2 weeks. If no suitable time is found, a credit will be applied to your Opus account.
Teacher Absence
If your teacher is unavailable, we will make sure the lesson is not lost. We will either provide a qualified substitute, reschedule a make-up lesson, or issue a credit to your Opus account.
Extracurricular Conflicts
Cancellations due to sports or other activities are not eligible for a make-up unless we are notified more than one week in advance please refer to planned absences.
Last-Minute Cancellations & No-Shows
Unfortunately, lessons missed without notice or forgotten appointments are not eligible for make-up.
Semester structure
Spring: January – May
Summer: June – August
Fall: September – December
Each semester includes one eligible make-up credit per student.
Important note: Make-up lessons are subject to teacher availability and are scheduled within 2 weeks when possible. Please keep in mind that make-ups are offered as a courtesy and are not guaranteed. If a suitable time cannot be found, an account credit will be issued instead.
Please also note that tuition is not prorated for missed lessons, as your scheduled time is reserved specifically for you. Consistent attendance is strongly encouraged to support your student’s progress.
We appreciate your understanding and partnership in keeping our music program running smoothly for everyone!
